Continue around mask

I’m currently writing out the stitch count on this, but here are my notes on what to do next.

Round 1:

You should have 2 short sides that are 9 [11] sts across, you’ll just work into these evenly with a sc. You’ll also have 2 raw edges. This is the edge of the rows, not actual stitches to work into. When crocheting around the edges, go into the “hole” at the end of the rows. You’ll do 3 sc and then skip a st. EXCEPT when crocheting across the nose piece. do not skip sts across the nose, just work 9 sc across. ss to beginning st.

Round 2: sc around to each corner and in each corner you’ll skip the corner st and ch 3. finish off.

Create cotton strands: cut cotton fabric 1”x 14” pull the fabric tight after cutting to stretch it out.

Take a cotton strand and put a hole about an inch from the end in the center of the strip. with your mask facing towards you, pull the strand with the hole end through the ch 3 you created in the corners of the mask. At this point you should have about 3 inches of this strand pulled through the ch 3 space. take the opposite end of the strand and pull it through the hole we made. pull tight. Repeat this for each strip for each corner.

Trace your mask the cotton t-shirt. Cut out the shape. Repeat. You should have 2 pieces of cotton for your mask. Pin both pieces to your mask. Take your cotton thread (I used a heavy duty size 10, also make sure to leave a long tail in the beginning) and sew through both pieces of fabric and crochet mask. (I weave up and down through the stitches of the first round.) knot when you get to the beginning and add another round just for extra durability, knot again after your second round and cut a long tail. Sew tails into the crochet work.

Do this part carefully! To create a filter pocket, grab just the top layer of your cotton fabric and cut a horizontal slit in the center of the fabric. Should be about 3” across.
