Single Wrap Scarf: Adding Feathers to Scarf

Size H hook

You will have 4 different chain lengths, crochet the lengths depending on your preference. The scarf in picture is (short, medium, long, medium 2, short) lengths.

Attach yarn in any color that matches feathers (picture is shown w MC) Attach yarn to the center wide base of each feather and Ch desired length below:

Short length: ch 5

Medium length: ch 10

Medium 2 length: ch 15

Long length: ch 20

Sl st in between p sts on border, ch 252 (or length of scarf) leaving a long tail about 24”, loosely finish off with a knot, you’ll be undoing this knot after weaving. Weave 252 strand ch through mesh loops, undo knot, sl st in between p sts on border the same as you did on the opposite side and ch the matching short, medium, medium 2 or long length, sts to feather, finish off, weave in ends.

Double Wrap Scarf: Adding Feathers to Scarf

Size H hook

You will have 2-3 different chain lengths for feathers depending on your preference. The scarf in picture is (medium, long, short) lengths.

Attach yarn in any color that matches feather's (picture is shown w mc for single wrap scarf and ca and cc for double wrap scarf) Attach yarn to the center wide base of each feather and Ch desired length below:

Short length: ch 4

Medium length: ch 5

Long length: ch 10

Sl st in between p sts on border, ch 127 (or length of scarf) leaving a long tail about 24”, loosely finish off with a knot, you’ll be undoing this knot after weaving. Weave 127 strand ch through mesh loops, undo knot, sl st in between p sts on border the same as you did on the opposite side and ch the matching short, medium or long length, sts to feather, finish off, weave in ends.

Feather like Strands

Cut 3 strands of fun fur or similar yarn for each chain space

(3 groups of 3 for double wrap scarf, 5 groups of three for single wrap scarf)

Cut them to the length of the scarf, including the length it takes to reach the bottom of the feathers for both sides of that space and add an additional 6” to each side. (You will be trimming the fun fur 3” below each feather, 6” gives you a little extra room for trimming at the end. Be careful not to stretch the yarn while measuring, for accurate length.)

Weave the 3 strands through the mesh leaving an even amount of fun fur at each end of the scarf. You will insert your hook into the sc space between the picot border, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull tail through the loop, creating a tassel. Do the same for the other side be sure to stretch the scarf so your tassels are a loose fit inside the mesh and not constricting the stretch of the scarf. Repeat for each space, finish off. Trim ends on each space, 3” below feather (be sure you are not stretching the fun fur as you cut it to this length.)
